Being reported late (better late than never), Reading have signed United States international Danny Williams.
The 24-year old joins from German side Hoffenheim and signs a four-year deal at the Madejski Stadium, keeping him here until the summer of 2017. The fee for Williams has been left undisclosed by both parties, but is certainly a seven-figure fee.
Williams primarily plays as a defensive midfielder for club and country, but can capably fill in as full-back on either sides. Despite not being a regular with his previous side, he made 21 appearances in the Bundesliga last season, contributing with one goal.
Another sign of intent from the powers that be, a player that has experience at the top level of German football, yet great pedigree at the age of 24. I can imagine this will spell the end for Daniel Carrico, as we also have Karacan, Guthrie, Akpan and Ledge for this position.
