Reading captain Graeme Murty thinks that winning two caps with Scotland as they won the Kirin Cup was the perfect end to his season.

Murty made his first international start in the game with Bulgaria which the Scots won 5-1 and he then got his second start in the draw with hosts Japan.

That was enough to win the competition and 31 year old Murty rounded off a record breaking season in style.

‘It’s been really good. We’ve done ever so well to win the cup,’ Murty told the Reading Evening Post.

‘I never expected to get this call-up but the manager had said he wanted me to be involved with the team, so that’s all well and good.

‘I’ve had the chance to prove myself at the highest level so it’s given my confidence a boost and it’s a fantastic way to end a memorable season.

‘I’ve worked really hard and I’ve enjoyed the rewards at a domestic level and come here and won the Kirin Cup.’

Whether he’s good enough for the prem or not green giant, the fact that he has a contract would point to a very good reason that he will be in the SQUAD. DOH !!!
