We are yet to see Michael Hector start a game for Reading, but teammate Alex Pearce is predicting a big future for the defender.

The 21-year old returned from a very successful loan spell at Aberdeen last month, but has only made two substitute appearances since returning to Berkshire. Despite this lack of game time, Pearce has noticed the quality of the central defender in training over the past few weeks.

Speaking to the Reading Post about the defender, Pearce said: ‘I’ve been really impressed with Michael. He’s been fantastic in training. He’s a young lad, he wants to learn and he has everything in his locker. He just needs to listen and he can go very far in this game.’

‘He can definitely cope at this level and has got all the attributes to be a top defender. Michael’s come through the ranks here and he’s been out on loan a couple of times and it’s been a great benefit to him. He’s in the squad and he’s come on a couple of times for us and has done really well.’

I think we are all looking forward to Hector making his debut, even though we have no idea when. He earned rave review with Aberdeen and now his teammates are publicly praising his abilities. If I was Pearce though, I wouldn’t praise him too much, as he could well be taking his place!
