Although we didn’t bring anyone in on deadline day, Alex Pearce has praised the club for not letting any of it’s key players go.

The Royals had deadline day enquiries and bids for the trio of Alex McCarthy, Garath McCleary and Adam le Fondre, most notably the latter from Cardiff. However, Sir John Madejski stood firm and denied any offers for our key players, despite the reported financial troubles.

Speaking to the Official Reading FC website about the deadline day shut out, Pearcey said: ‘It was a really positive move from the club withstanding that. Credit to the club for getting the body armor on and staying strong! We`re a very solid team, we all know what we`re doing.’

‘We all know each other`s jobs. It`s not rocket science, you see the quality we`ve got and if we keep solid and do our jobs we have lethal players in this division. We just need to give those players the ball – I`m stood there at the back thinking ‘I wouldn`t want to play against you`.’

Some fans have been looking on the negatives of the transfer window, but Pearce is right to look at the positives, in that we didn’t lose any key members of the squad. Pearce’s performances as of late have also been much improved too and will hope to force his way back into the Ireland squad.
