Reading owner Anton Zingarevich has revealed the club are considering the possibility of signing Russian winger Denis Cheryshev on loan from Real Madrid.

The 21-year old winger currently plays for Madrid’s second side, Castilla, where he has scored 13 goals in 80 appearances. Cheryshev is very highly rated at Madrid and also at an international level, appearing for the Russian U21s on ten occasions. Zingarevich also spoke once again of his long-term ambitions with the club.

Speaking to Sport Express, Zingarevich said: ‘Our scouts watched Cheryshev in Castilla’s match against Barcelona B. I can’t guarantee that he will come to Reading, but it’s possible, and Denis himself knows this. In the off-season we were negotiating with players at the level of England internationals. People like the club.’

‘We don’t want to be a team from a single city, we’re interested in everything around us – the region along the Thames, even as far as Bristol. If the plan which is in my head comes to fruition, Reading will be in the hunt for a European spot. From next year, with the increase in television rights payments, the club will be worth £100million.’
