After both teams we’re in action on Wednesday night in the Capital One Cup, Reading and Newcastle return to Premier League action at the Madejski Stadium. The Magpies have had a decent start to the campaign, while the Royals are still looking for their first win.

Vital Quotes:

Reading manager Brian McDermott – “The QPR win has given us a great lift as it was a strong performance. We needed that. We got what we needed and we`ll move on to what I think will be a fantastic game on Saturday. I loved the performance against QPR. The previous games we haven`t performed as well, but we want to give our fans something to cheer about and we want them to get behind us.”

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew – ‘I won`t get a good reception. In fact, it`ll be horrendous probably because of the way I left. It will be a pretty charged-up atmosphere, and we`ll need our fans to be as vocal as they can be in their support as they always are. I went back with a West Ham team a few years back, and they didn`t grasp the intensity of the opposition. We have to understand that they`ll be fuelled up again this weekend. With the atmosphere tomorrow, I really need our fans to give their backing to the team.”

Reading Team News:

Reading could promote winger Jimmy Kebe to the starting XI, after he played 70 minutes against QPR on Wednesday on his return from injury. However, striker Jason Roberts is still struggling with a calf problem.

Player to watch: Danny Guthrie

The former Newcastle man has said he hasn’t got anything to prove against his former side, but deep down he might have a point to prove to Alan Pardew. Could give Tiote a tough afternoon if he is on form.

Newcastle Team News:

Newcastle have some defensive problems for this game, with Argentinian international Fabricio Coloccini out with a hamstring problem and Danny Simpson also out. Midfielder Yohan Cabaye is also set to miss the game with a tooth problem.

Player to watch: Papa Cissé

The energetic-forward hasn’t had a great start to the campaign, but got off the mark against Manchester United on Wednesday with a superb finish.

Expected line-ups:

Reading: McCarthy, Gunter, Pearce, Gorkss, Shorey, McCleary, Leigertwood, Guthrie, McAnuff, Pogrebnyak, Hunt

Newcastle: Harper, Perch, S.Taylor, Williamson, Santon, Ben Arfa, Tiote, Anita, Jonas, Cisse, Ba

Ref Watch:

The referee for the game will be Andre Mariner.

Match Prediction:

It will a heated atmosphere with Pardew’s return, but I can certainly see goals with neither defensive looking particularly strong. 2-2.
