Former Roma and Barcelona B coach Luis Enrique has emerged as a suprise candidate for the Reading job.

Sky Bet have installed the 42-year old as fourth favourite, behind leading candidates Nigel Adkins, Phil Parkinson and current caretaker boss Eamonn Dolan. Enrique is probably unknown to many in English football, but will probably be more renowned to those in Serie A and possibly in Spain.

Enrique, who had a very successful playing career in Spain, decided to take up coaching in 2008 and managed Barcelona B, taking over from Pep Guardiola. He took over at Roma in 2011, but only lasted a season in Italy, leaving in the summer of 2012. With great thanks to Zonal Marking, here is a tactical overview of Enrique’s philosophy at Roma.

There is certainly no smoke without a fire, so there is something certainly going on concerning the Spaniard and the vacant post. Only time will tell. It is still worth noting that Nigel Adkins is still the overwhelming favourite with all bookmakers to take the job.
