Reading defender Nicky Shorey has said he has enjoyed life under caretaker boss Eamonn Dolan, possibly hinting at a full time role.

The 32-year old was given his first league start in nearly three months by the Royals caretaker boss, who Shorey has worked closely with at the club in his previous spell. Nicky also spoke about the decision to sack Brian McDermott last week, but admitted as much as he was disappointed, he respects Anton Zingarevich’s decision.

Speaking to The Sun, Shorey said: ‘It’s not down to me, but I’ve enjoyed working with Eamonn. Whatever the decision the owner makes will be fine with us and we will get on with it. We had a good week with Eamonn and we’ll work for him for however long it will be. Disappointed, shocked all of those emotions, but we respect the owner’s decision.’

Honest words from Nicky, he obviously has a strong relationship with Eamonn. I’m still not sure if Dolan is one of the front runners for the job, with the general consensus seeming to want a more experienced man at the helm. Either way, we can expect a decision this week.
