Reading midfielder Jem Karacan has rubbished rumours that he is having disagreements over his new contract with the club.

The Turkish midfielder’s current deal is due to run out at the end of the season and he is yet to agree an extension, which sparked rumours over disagreements in wages. However, Karacan has put these rumours to bed, saying it is pure speculation and that he hopes to remain a Reading player for a while longer.

Speaking to the Reading Post, Karacan said: ‘There`s nothing to believe in the rumours, I don`t know where it`s come from. I`ve been here at Reading for eight seasons and looking to be here a long time further. Hopefully it will be sorted in the next week. I want to be a Reading player for a long time yet.’

Karacan, 23, returned to action following his broken ankle suffered back in early April, when he came on against Bournemouth in our 2-2 draw on Saturday. It is expected that the former Millwall loanee will play some part in tonight’s friendly against Brighton, being likely to play the final 30 minutes of the match against the Championship side.
