Midfielder back in training

Reading midfielder Mikele Leigertwood is back in training, after missing the whole of pre-season with an ankle injury.

The 30-year old had ankle surgery during the summer, so did not play any part during pre-season, but has returned to light training this week. However, it will still be a few weeks before the former QPR man is back in contention, with Danny Williams & Hope Akpan still fighting for a place.

It wouldn’t surprise me to see Ledge make a loan move away in the next month, as it stands, he is fifth choice for two centre midfield spots and if Sissoko or Gosling join, he will be pushed further behind. He has been a great servant for the club, but he doesn’t fit into Adkins style.

On the injury front, Jason Roberts is still a few months off a return to the training field, despite contrary reports saying he would be back in training soon. Wayne Bridge also returned to training this week, after missing the trip to Yeovil with a knee injury.
