Brian McDermott was disappointed to see his side come away from the Riverside Stadium with nothing on Saturday, and thought that three silly goals cost us anything in the game.

Speak to the Reading Post after the game, he said, ‘To give a goal away after 24 seconds gave the whole place and their team a lift. We looked flat and didn`t look ourselves, we gave poor goals away and you can`t come to a place like this and do that.’

Despite that he was full of praise for Vital Reading’s man of the match, Jimmy Kebe.

‘I thought Jimmy was outstanding again and wanted the ball at all times, he tried to make things happen and it was a fantastic goal. He hit the post and looked a real threat, but he has done for the last eight months.’

Brian Howard’s red card was another major talking point in the game, but McDermott did a ‘Wenger’ and said he didn’t see it!

‘I haven`t really seen it. I`ll have a little look later at some point. He went in quickly and tried to pull away and I can`t really say much about it until I`ve seen it again.’

The Royals now have a whole week to prepare for Saturday’s visit of Barnsley, and McDermott will hope to have Andy Griffin back in his starting line up for the visit of the Tykes.
