McDermott left very disappointed

Reading manager Brian McDermott has shared his emotions of deep disappoint at his teams loss to Cardiff on Saturday, saying his side were very unlucky not to win the game.

McDermott’s side lost the game 2-1 to the side in fourth thanks to goals from Peter Whittingham and Mark Hudson, with Jimmy Kebe’s goal turning out to be a small consolation for the Royals.

The 50-year old told the official RFC site: ‘I’m really, really disappointed that we didn’t get at least a point because we didn’t deserve to lose, there’s no doubt about that. I felt anything that could have gone against us did go against us. I’m disappointed but we will have to move on quickly.’

‘I’ve seen their first goal back, Whittingham has got a great left foot but I don’t believe he meant it. It’s a kind of block, he’s put his foot through it and it’s ended up in the top corner when it could have gone anywhere.’

The game was full off contentious decisions with Reading having three penalty appeals turned down and Jimmy Kebe having a goal ruled out for offside with the score at 1-0 to the visitors.

He added: ‘There were then three penalty appeals, you’d expect to get at least one of them, I’m flabbergasted we didn’t get any. Two handballs and when Leigertwood was held back in the box, I’ve seen them all again.’
