Long scores for Ireland

There were a number of Royals stars on international duty on Friday night, and Irish striker Shane Long found the back of the net against Russia.


However the Republic gave the Russians a 3-0 lead before a penalty from Robbie Keane, and Longy’s strike, gave them hope but they could not complete the comeback.


Simon Church and Hal Robson Kanu both came off the bench for Wales but could not make a difference as they went down 1-0 to Bulgaria, in the same group as England.


There was a win though for Zurab Kizhanishvili, he captained Georgia to a 1-0 win over Malta.
