On-loan defender Michael Hector is already earning rave reviews at Aberdeen, with manager Derek McInnes very impressed with the youngster.

The young defender joined the SPL side on loan earlier this month and is already earning praise from fans and his manager. Hector is yet to make an appearance for the Reading first team, but is being watched closely by the club’s coaches, who predict a big future for the central defender.

Speaking to the Daily Record about Hector’s early impressions, the former Bristol City manager said: ‘He has good attributes and showed good composure on Saturday and has good pace. It was a confident display and he will only get better.’

‘I have no doubt this loan spell will be beneficial to him and to Aberdeen. He is still very young, particularly for a defender, and still has a lot to learn. But I`ve no doubt he can have a big future
in the game.”

Hector has never really been given the chance by Brian McDermott or Nigel Adkins, but at the age of 21 and several loans spells later, he is gradually progressing and getting better. People say the SPL isn’t a high standard, but he will learn a lot up in Scotland.
