Reading have confirmed that Striker Leroy Lita has broken his ankle in today’s game against Burnley at Turf Moor.

The under 21 international picked up his injury without being involved in a tackle right at the end of the first half, landing awkwardly after taking a shot.

Lita was taken off the field on a stretcher and later went to hospital for X-rays where the bad news was confirmed

Lita will now miss the rest of the season, one that he has shown so much promise in; it certainly is a setback for both himself and Reading FC.

Club Physio Jon Fearn told the club’s official website, readingfc.co.uk

‘Unfortunately I think his season is over. Even at the best case scenario the bone would take six to eight weeks to heal, and then he needs to start running and strengthening after that.

‘We’ll have a look at the x-rays, speak to doctors back home and will have a better idea in a few days.’

All the best to the lad and I hope he makes a quick and full recovery, he is one bundle of entertainment and the quicker he is back, the better for all concerned.

It’s never good to see a player suffer injury, especially one who plays so well!

Steve Coppell popped his head back round the press-room door last night to ask for the code to open the exit door. The Reading manager may not know his way out of Bramall Lane, but he has the key to the Barclays Premiership after this result.
