Rumours are picking up pace that the Royals are on the verge of losing striker Dave Kitson.

Since relegation, some of Reading`s top stars, including Nicky Shorey, Kevin Doyle and James Harper, have been linked with moves away from the club but it appears Kitson will be the first to leave.

Kitson was widely expected to stay at Reading as they look to bounce back to the top flight, but rumours of discontent and suggestions Kitson could be a disruptive influence at the club have contributed to Reading reluctantly allowing him to leave.

Stoke City appears to be Kitson`s destination, and although no price has been confirmed, it is thought to be anything between 2 and 4 million pounds.

28-year-old Kitson has scored 60 goals during his 4½ years with Reading, including 10 in the Premier League last season. He has been previously linked with moves to Wigan, Fulham and Birmingham but it seems as though Stoke have won the race for the gifted striker.

If Kitson does leave then it won`t sit well with the fans.

The former Cambridge man is a big favourite with the Reading faithful and his departure will only add to the growing unrest among a large group of fans, who have become disillusioned by the lack of transfer activity and perceived lack of ambition at the club.

I will be gutted if he goes, but if he is causing trouble in the dressing room then we could do without him.

Kitson is overated anyway, he has no pace. However in the Championship he would do very well again. I think Doyle is our best striker, he just needs to get his confidence back. Its a shame Kitson apears to be a problem, but hey hum.
