Key man watch: Rudy Gestede

Vital Reading takes a look at the opposition’s key man, ahead of the game against Blackburn Rovers.

Jordan Rhodes would normally be Blackburn’s danger man up front, but instead, it’s his strike partner who has been more prolific this season. Gestede, a former Reading target many seasons ago, has scored six goals in 12 appearances this campaign, compared to Rhodes’ five goals.

When I tell you he wins 9.3 aerial duels on average a game, it is fairly obvious where his strength lies up front. Michael Hector’s suspension will probably mean Jake Cooper comes in, and considering him and Gestede stand at 6’4, it will be an intriguing battle to watch.
