Having struggled with injury since his arrival in the summer Kalifa Cisse, who looked to be closing in on a first team return is now set to be out for six weeks.
He signed for Reading in May from Boavista and had struggled appear to find the going tough in Premier League, but how much of this was down to a niggling injury that will now require surgery?
“Cisse is still having some problem with the cartilage in the knee,” Reading’s physio Jon Fearn told readingfc.co.uk.
The midfielder is now set to have an operation on his knee on Friday and will be sidelined for six weeks.

Not good news really, but hopefully this can sort out the problem and get him sorted out so we can see him at his best when he is back.
He has been disappointing since he arrived, but like you say the injury could have played a problem.
I think that could be what has been the problem. In a few weeks time we should know shouldn’t we.
Hopefully!
