Jem has contract dilemma

Jem Karacan is admitting he is considering life away from Reading, as he has still had no contact about a new contract.

The Reading skipper’s current deal runs out in two months and still hasn’t been offered a new deal, despite recovering from a long-term injury. The 26-year old has been at the club for 12 years, but could start considering his options elsewhere, despite his love for the Royals.

Speaking to the Reading Post, Jem said: “The club need to decide what`s going on. There`s been brief conversations, but there`s obviously still uncertainty. Saturday could have possibly been the last time a few of us were at the Madejski and it was quite emotional.’

‘I`ve been here a long time but I`ve got to look after myself. I love this club but if there`s not an offer there for me then you just don`t know what`s going to happen. If they offer me a year & someone else offers me three, what can you do? Decisions still haven`t been made.’

I would have been skeptical offering Jem a new deal a few months ago, because of his injury issues, but since then, he is back in the side and playing well. We’d be stupid to let him go, we need players here that love the club and Jem is one of them – offer him a new deal!
