Injury strikes Guthrie ‘again’

Danny Guthrie has not had a great time with injuries this season and it has just got slightly worse.

The Royals midfielder was injured in pre-season, but managed to make an appearance from the bench against Wigan on the opening day. However, Guthrie suffered another relapse of his calf problem after this, where he managed to return for the cup game at Derby last month.

It was all looking back on track for the former Newcastle man, until he suffered a hamstring problem in training last week – when will it end for him! Adkins seems confident he won’t be out long, but we don’t want to rush him back, so we need to use the international break wisely.

Hope Akpan was another player who missed out against Brentford with an ankle injury, but hasn’t withdrawn from international duty, so is presumably fine. Danny Williams is now back kicking a ball on the grass, so is hopefully only a month away from getting back out on the pitch.
