Former Royals winger, and brother of current forward Noel, Stephen Hunt left Hull City after just one season at the KC Stadium this week, and joined Kevin Doyle and Marcus Hahnemann at Wolves. In his comments following his arrival at Molenieux he praised us, and slagged off the Tigers!

When asked about the problems at Hull and their impending financial crisis, he was quick to praise the Royals for the way we managed the cash during the Premiership years. He said, ‘At Reading we had a good structure, when we got promoted the club improved the training ground, they improved everything to go with it. The thing I will say about Hull is it was disappointing that the facilities never really got any better.’

Great to hear a player who divided opinion amoungst Reading fans, speak so highly of the way the club is managed at board room level. For all the critism aimed at Madejski for lack of funds etc, we are on a sound financial footing unlike Hull who only a few years ago were keen to model themselves on us.

The news might not be so good for Wolves though, as Hunt has been relegated from the Premier League in each of the last two season’s. Mick McCarthy will be hoping he doesn’t make it a hat trick.
