Huddersfield Negotiating Williams Deal

It’ll quite literally be insult added to injury for Reading should Huddersfield follow up their Championship play-off final penalty shootout win over the Royals with the acquisition of Danny Williams.

According to the Sun, this is exactly what’s going to happen with the German-born American international.

Williams, a player Jaap Stam hoped to keep, had been offered a new deal at the Madejski Stadium but the chance to swap Reading for Huddersfield, along with a place in the Premier League, could be too good to refuse.

Huddersfield boss David Wagner, himself a former United States player, has reportedly held an interest in Williams since their days in the Bundesliga, where the midfielder started out at Freiburg before joining Hoffenheim, leaving them for Reading in 2013.

Despite the offer of a new deal, Williams, 28, looks set to turn this down in favour of a switch to the John Smith’s Stadium, a move that would be officially confirmed on July 1st when his Reading contract expires.
