Hector would welcome Dons move

Reading defender Michael Hector has revealed he would be open to joining AFC Wimbledon on loan.


The Hounslow Chronicle revealed last week that Dons boss Terry Brown was very interested in signing the 20-year old on loan, but said interest from an unnamed League One side, could stop any potential move. This unnamed League One side is believed to be newly-promoted Crawley Town, who have Royals legend Steve Coppell as their director of football.


Speaking about his future, Hector said: “I’ve been training with the first-team, which has been a good experience for me to work with some good players and learn from them. Hopefully I can kick on again this season and go out on loan and show what I can do. I’m open to offers, I just want to play league games. It’s a good set-up [at Wimbledon] and seems a nice place to play football.’


‘I like to pass it out from the back as well but I do whatever the coach tells me! It was a good experience playing week in, week out. It’s tough playing in League Two at a young age, so it was good to get games. There’s a lot more on the line than in reserve team football because the games mean something; jobs are on the line and people have mortgages to pay.”


Coppell was watching Hector during Reading’s 7-0 victory over Wimbledon two weeks ago, also believed to be casting an eye over young-star Jordan Obita. There is no doubt that Hector has a big future at the Madejski Stadium, with a loan move to either League One or League Two giving him more valuable first-team experience.
