Reading?s director of football Nicky Hammond spoke today about how he believes that Reading will have little problem in getting in new players for next season?s assault on the Premiership.

When Wigan first went up they had a few problem in getting players to join the club, but Hammond thinks Reading won?t be going down that track as they prepare for their first season in top flight football

‘Plans are in place and we have ideas about what we want to do during the close season,’ Hammond told the Press Association.

‘One of the most pleasing things for me as a director of football is obviously the results and all the attention that comes with it.

‘It has been a record-breaking season for us. We went on a 33-game unbeaten run and the profile of the club and the brand, if you like, has really grown this year and that’s important for us as we go forward.

‘It’s a great football club and it has fantastic facilities. Location-wise it’s in a great spot and we have a great manager. I think people are beginning to see that and more importantly the style which we play is interesting people too.?

How do you think you’ll do in the transfer market in the close season?
Your chairman is known as being prudent (quite rightly these days) but, do you think he’ll “raise the bar” so to speak, in order to compete and/or survive, or do you think he’ll try and do it on the cheap, like our chairman (Milan Mandaric) did last year?
