Danny Guthrie hasn’t started since the 4th January, but is happy to see Hope Akpan and Danny Williams doing well.
The central midfielder suffered a calf injury after the Brighton game at the start of January, but despite returning to fitness in recent weeks, has only found a place on the bench due the good partnership of Hope Akpan and Danny Williams.
Speaking to the Reading Post about his spell on the bench, Guthrie said: “There`s no complaints from me. The two lads have done really well. I`ve come back, got on with it and worked hard. I`ll continue to do that until I get back into the team.’
‘I`m not going to sulk, everyone is in this together so we`ll have to keep pushing. It`s not been a shock to me or any player in the squad. Hope is a good player. He`s had to be patient and wait for his chance and he`s done well since coming into the team.”
I have a sneaky feeling that Adkins might bring him in on Saturday, with Akpan having a mixed game against Blackburn. I think Akpan deserved a chance as the partnership with Williams can only get better, with the QPR game highlighting what they can do together.
