Chris Gunter feels that the club would make the wrong decision to sack manager Nigel Adkins.

The Royals boss has come under a large amount of pressure in recent weeks, after a poor run has left Reading just three points above the relegation zone. Some fans have called for his header, but Gunter feels that he deserves more time, after recent turbulent times at the club.

Speaking to the BBC Sport, the Welsh international said: ‘What this club doesn’t need is to make a decision like that, it would be one of the worst things we could do.’The first thing I would say if there is any talk about the manager is play that tape of the second half.’

‘There were 10 players on the pitch that were doing everything they could for him, for the fans that travelled and the badge on the shirt. The manager has stuck with this club in some dark times over the past 12 months, There are things people don’t know.’

Very interesting last point from Gunter – there are some things people don’t know?! Don’t get me wrong, the manager could have very easily quit his post during the tough ownership times, where he could not sign players. He isn’t in that situation now though – we need to move on.
