Gorkss on Rhodes threat

It appears that Kaspars Gorkss is going to relish the challenge of marking Jordan Rhodes in today’s game with Blackburn.

The Royals defender had his red card against QPR rescinded by the FA, meaning he is available for today, but won’t have the easy task of marking one of the most prolific strikers in the division. Saying that, Rhodes hasn’t scored in eight games, despite already having 16 goals this current campaign.

Speaking to the Go to YahooOfficial Reading FC website about the challenge of handling Rhodes, Gorkss said: ‘He is like Alfie, a natural goalscorer – which is always frustrating to play against because you can have him in your pocket for most of the game then he`ll pop up at the back stick and score a goal.’

‘But I think we are in good form, our key players are playing really well and in top form. Jordan is playing left back like he`s been a left back all his life – Garath is unplayable at times. We just need to go out there, perform and aim to seal that place in the playoffs, we have a couple of teams on our back.’

Even though Rhodes isn’t in goalscoring from, I’m sure he will be a masisve handful, as will Gestede too. They are both physical players, but as are Gorkss and Pearcey, so unlike Afobe in our last home game against Sheffield Wednesday, the both of them can surely match the physicality of the front two for Rovers.
