Fulham Keeping Tabs on Hahnemann

It is being reported that Fulham are watching Marcus Hahnemann, and they could make a move to take the goalkeeper back to London in January.

Fulham signed Hahnemann in 1999, when the then Fulham manager Kevin Keegan brought the American over to British football for the first time. With contract negotiations stalling, which has been frustrating Hahnemann, he could be tempted to leave the club.

Quite what his future is with Reading is not yet known, but even if he does move then Fulham would appear a strange choice, as he will just go back to being their reserve goalkeeper, this time behind Antti Niemi.

Hopefully a new contract can be arranged anyway, but if it isn’t then he is going to basically be wasting the latter years of his career sat on the bench as he wont get in the Fulham side ahead of Niemi.

fair point, he’s a good keeper tho, obviously he’s no cech, but a good keeper none the less, are fulham looking at him as a backup or as a direct replacement??

Surely the only way he would join Fulham was if they was to sell Niemi?

i think this is pure speculation to make Reading sit up and take notice that their player could leave!

you need to get him signed up and pretty quickly by the sound of it…why is he stalling anyway ?

  • Madejski Royal says:

I don’t think for one minute that Reading ant him to go and whilst I can understand he wants his future sorted he has to wait for the right time.
