Marsielle striker Jordan Ayew has said that he wanted to join Premier League new boys Reading during the summer transfer window.
The 20-year old was the subject of interest from Brian McDermott’s side in the final week of the transfer window, but neither party could materialise a move. While Marsielle were keen on Ayew to leave on a permanent deal, the Royals were more interested in a loan move for the pacey forward.
Speaking to Ghana Soccer Net, Ayew said: ‘It is the English Premiership and I wanted to join Reading. But I don`t know what happened, Marseille didn`t allow me to go.” The Ghana international has also reportedly come close to a move to French side Nice, but that move also fell through.

I hate Reading, sometimes.
I think we can still get him on loan, but will probably have to offload Church.
As much as we want it to happen, it won’t.
