Reading`s Australian goalkeeper has revealed his determination to beat Man Utd in the FA Cup so that he can line up against some of his heroes of Australian football.

Adam Federici, who proved himself a real hero after many spectacular saves against Man Utd in the 5th round of the FA Cup, will hope that Reading can progress past Man Utd and Boro can beat West Brom to face each other in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

Federici hopes that Reading will overcome this year`s league leaders so he can pit himself against his fellow countrymen at Boro, Mark Viduka and Mark Schwarzer.

“That would be my ideal choice. It would be an exciting match, playing against two great heroes of Australian football,” commented Federici.

‘Viduka is a great guy and a typical Aussie. He’s a very strong and powerful player and if he gets a chance on goal he usually takes it.’

Reading will face Boro at the Riverside in the league this weekend but Federici will not feature in the starting eleven as Steve Coppell will most likely revert back to his unbeaten league team with Marcus Hahnemann in between the sticks.

‘I want to show people I can play at this level and I think I’ve done that so far. Hopefully I’ll be playing in the Premiership more regularly in the near future,” Federici said

‘I’m definitely pushing him and giving him something to think about. He’s such a great goalkeeper though, and he’s having an exceptional season.”

‘He’s had a big influence on me and has been like my best friend. He was even more excited than me after the United game.’

And for now that is what Federici will be concentrating on, with only 5 days to wait till he faces United, Federici will have to focus on facing the big guns before he can even think about facing Boro`s Aussies.
