Reading striker Kevin Doyle has won an award before the season ends. The Eircom/FAI have crowned him their Under-21 international Player of the Year.

22 year old Doyle arrived at the Mad Stad in June and has been inspirational in Readings push for the Premiership this season which has seen them take the top of the table by storm.

Doyle has made 41 appearances and scored 15 goals in the process. But before that he helped his former club Cork to the Eircom League title.

  • He’s a hero for the kids of his former club, Adamstown FC. You never saw so many Reading jerseys outside of Madjeski

  • Steve Coppell popped his head back round the press-room door last night to ask for the code to open the exit door. The Reading manager may not know his way out of Bramall Lane, but he has the key to the Barclays Premiership after this result.
