Relegation hit home in a big way today, with the release of the fixtures for the forthcoming season in the championship.
I`m not going to insult any sides by saying ‘you know when you`ve been relegated when?` I`ve been there as a lower league fan and remember John Gregory saying that about Reading as Derby manager, needless to say the rest is history?
What I will say, is looking at the fixture list, there are no easy games in this league, and anyone assuming we`re going to coast back into the top flight needs a reality check.
I still believe we have what it takes to go back up at the first time of asking, but it will take a lot of graft, as well as a slight re-shuffle of the squad.
Reading start the new season with a tricky away game at newly promoted Forest, and finish with a big home game against fellow relegates Birmingham. In the middle of that there`s some long away trips to look forward to, including newly promoted Doncaster on a Tuesday night.

Doncaster at Reading was the first fixture I looked for. Being a Donny lad and only living 18 miles from Reading I cannot wait now for the season to start. Lets hope we can dish up a similar game to the famous 7-5 at Belle Vue ( I was there) in the early 80’s
I’m well looking forward to the new season now. Was thinking of goin to donny, but a bit far to travel on a tuesday night!!
From Man U to Donny…….can understand why it has hit home.
I know , haven’t you come a long way. You are now playing the mighty Rovers!
You have to win games like Donny away to return to the promised land.
