It appears the shock rumour of Eamonn Dolan becoming the new Leeds boss is soon to become a reality.
The Royals’ academy manager is now odds-on favourite to take the head coach position at Elland Road, replacing his good friend and former colleague Brian McDermott. As of Monday night, Dolan was as short as 1/10 with SkyBet to become the new man at the helm.
Reading failed to comment on speculation linking Dolan away from the club. The local journalist linked with Leeds the closest, Phil Hay, sent out the following two tweets confirming not only interest in Dolan, but how owner Massimo Cellino is a fan of him and is keen.
#lufc head coach latest in tomorrow’s YEP. Eamonn Dolan very close to the job. Definitely has Cellino’s favour.

Among the people I’m speaking to, Hockaday is still not being ruled out. But Cellino seems to have a very high opinion of Dolan. #lufc

This would only be Dolan’s second permanent spell in charge as a manager of a club, after having a short spell with Exeter City back in 2004. He took caretaker charge of the Royals last season though, with his only game being a 1-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford.
A very bizarre move to say the least, especially as Dolan was reluctant to take the job here on a permanent basis as Brian was sacked previously. Is our unsure ownership situation behind his decision to leave? Is he wary of a lowering of funding to the academy?
