Reading have finally commented on increased speculation that academy boss Eamonn Dolan could be heading for Leeds.

Director of football Nicky Hammond confirmed that there is interested from Leeds in the former Exeter manager, but urged that the club is keen to keep hold of him. Dolan’s work with the Royals academy is earning good recognition and it is that reason the club want to keep him.

Speaking to GetReading about the Dolan-Leeds situation, Hammond said: ‘Reading FC are aware of the interest of another Championship club in our Academy Manager Eamonn Dolan. Eamonn is an integral part of our club and is under contract to Reading Football Club.’

‘Eamonn has done an incredible job since taking over from Brendan Rodgers and we hope he will be a big part of our club for many years to come. He has a fantastic relationship with our manager Nigel Adkins and we do not welcome any approaches from any club for our key staff.’

Hopefully Hammond will keep his word and keep Dolan at the club – I can only imagine he will continue to keep the academy fighting among the elites. I can see why the job would interest him, but we need to do all we can to keep him at the club for the foreseeable future.
