For the second season running Reading have been drawn against Liverpool in the Carling Cup.

Last season Reading made the difficult trip to Anfield in the very same second round, eventually losing a seven goal thriller to the team that has won the League Cup the most times, 4-3.

The draw for the Carling Cup was made at lunchtime today and a repeat tie will happen again this year, however the match will be played at the Madejski Stadium this season, with the match taking place on Tuesday 25th September.

The plus side it is at home, but I think like the 50 odd percent from a recent poll it could be next round and out. But that is a defeatists attitude, Coppell wants to do will in this Cup, so why should reading not go for it, how much will Liverpool want it?

could be a close game, depends on the eleven Rafa picks!

  • Madejski Royal says:

If he picks a “B team” like he likes to Reading could win, but if Coppell picks a “B team” too, then Reading might not have much chance.

I think Coppell is still more concerned with your League status to let cup competitions distract you.
