Deadline Day Rumours…

Its been a summer where there have been more departures than arrivals and there could be more heading for the exit door. James Harper continues to be linked with a move to Wolves, and Brendan Rodgers has said that it is likely the midfielder will leave the club before the deadline closes. Another midfielder who could be on the way out as well is Marek Matejovsky who is interesting Sparta Prague, after they qualified for the Europa League group stage, this though could be a season long loan.

A deal less likely to happen, but has been talked about nonetheless, is Liam Rosenior to Hull City. The Tigers are in need of a right back after Sam Ricketts left for Bolton but Rosenior has stated he wants to stay at the club. Some of our younger young players may also leave on loan deals, just as Nicholas Bignall did when he left for Stockport until January. Mikkel Andersson has spent time at Brentford and Brighton last season and could well be heading for league one again, down the M4 to Bristol Rovers.

Don’t worry though, there have been plenty of players linked with moves to Reading and the most exciting signing we have been linked with is Sheffield United midfielder Brian Howard, however this seems unlikely unless Harper and Matejovsky both left. Jamel Campbell Ryce is a winger we have been linked with for a while and Brendan Rodgers was seen having a quiet word in his ear at Barnsley on Saturday – could he be persuading him to sign for us?!
Brian Stock could follow Matt Mills down from Doncaster, and he is a highly rated midfielder who can also play on the wing.

As for defenders, Nyron Nosworthy of Sunderland is available after the Black Cats signed Michael Turner from Hull and he would be a great addition, whilst Celtic’s Darren O’Dea is also on the wanted list of a few Championship clubs – could we be one of them? And don’t forget Danny Shittu, he is linked with us every other transfer window and is not wanted at Bolton and wants a move to play regular football so secure his place in the Nigeria squad ahead of the World Cup.

So many have been linked, Rodgers says he wants at least three more players, Nicky Hammond has said there could be more arrivals so don’t be surprised if its a quiet day in Berkshire on Tuesday!

Whatever happens Vital Reading will let you know about it…..
