Shaun Cummings said he felt good after the Charlton game, even more so with the cleansheet and the three points.

The 24-year old started his first league game in over two months, which was also at left-back, against Yeovil in August. It meant Kelly could revert to a more familiar right-back spot, but Cummings but in a very solid shift on the left side, which was also praised by his manager.

Speaking to the Official Reading FC website, Shaun said: ‘I felt good after the game. It’s even better when you get a win and a clean sheet – that’s what inspired my legs to keep going! We go into the game with a game plan and we know what we have to do to win the game.’

‘We showed that against Charlton. The fans will want to see entertaining football because that’s what they pay their money for, and we’re on the pitch to do a job – that’s our main focus. The fans will be happy that we came away with a win and a clean sheet.’

I’m glad Adkins publicly praised his performance, as it should hopefully give Shaun a huge confidence boost. I hope that when Gunter returns this Saturday, that we keep Cummings in the side, as he certainly looked more comfortable there than Kelly has done.
