Coppell Staying With Royals

Reading FC have announced that Steve Coppell will be staying with the football club, despite the clubs relegation.

Despite John Madejski starting the press conference talking about his foot(??!!), he finally got to the point, and has announced that Royals boss Steve Coppell will be staying on as Reading manager, in the hope that he will lead the club back into the Premier League.

Coppell, wasn’t at the press conference, as he’s off on his holidays, but his agent was and he confirmed that Coppell will be staying.

Coppell was quoted as saying, ‘I’m very pleased to be staying. After the end of the season I needed some time to reflect and think about what was the best course of action for both myself and for Reading Football Club.

‘The reaction of the supporters had a bearing on my decision, as did my relationship with the Chairman and everyone at the club.

‘I’m now looking forward to the new season and the significant challenge of trying to regain our place in the Premier League.’

Coppell has been in charge of the Royals since October 2003 and it is a huge boost to the club and fans that he will be staying.

Reading chairman John Madejski also announced that season ticket prices for the upcoming season will be slashed by 25%.
