Jake Cooper may have got his first professional goals against Norwich, but was more pleased with the team’s win.

The Royals have been struggling as of late, having only picked up two wins in eleven games prior to this win. Cooper made just his third league start, but managed to score to first-half goals for Adkins’ side, but the young defender said the win was the most pleasing aspect.

Speaking to the Official Reading FC website, Cooper said: “It was a great win and a great performance by the team, and personally I`m delighted to score two goals in only my third Championship start. I`m happier to get the win, though – that was the most important thing.’

‘My first was important as we equalised so quickly but to get another, and the way the boys defended, was unbelievable. We conceded an unlucky goal but the way we turned it around and showed our strength to keep the ball out of the net in the second half was brilliant.”

Great performance from the team, but Cooper especially, not just because of his two goals. Norwich had most of the possession and were pressing, but any ball into the area, young Cooper and Hector dealt with. Hopefully Cooper will now kick on and get a run in the starting XI.
