High Wycombe born Church made a name for himself on Saturday with his goal against Liverpool in a game that was screened to the nation. It was his 5th goal of the season and his first for the club in the FA Cup, continuing his reputation as the clubs first choice striker.

He was out of contract at the end of the season but has now commited himself to the club until the summer of 2013.

The Welsh international striker was delighted to have signed the deal and told GetReading, “From a personal point of view I am sure this is the right move, even though I have heard about interest from Premier Division clubs. I have been at Reading since I was 14 and owe my development so far to the staff here at the club. I know that I still have a lot to learn and I am confident that by staying at Reading I will continue to progress and become a better player.”

The striker had apparantly been interesting Liverpool back in the summer but has opted to continue his club football at the Madejski Stadium, where he clearly holds high regard for the the likes of Brian McDermott.
