Crewe are hopeful of extending the loan stay of striker Simon Church.

Church has proved a big hit with Crewe and their boss Dario Gradi has said that he already plans to hold further talks with Reading to extend his initial month long stay, “The ball is in their court but we would be more than happy to keep him here,” Gradi told Crewe’s website.

He has already been given permission to play in Crewe’s FA Cup first round match, so the chances are they will be allowed to keep him for a while longer.

  • It’s first team experience for him which will all help, another couple of months at least would seem on the cards, probably the rest of the season as he’s only 18.
