Daniel Carrico joined Reading with expectations in January, but could already be off, back to Europe.

The 24-year old joined Reading from Sporting Lisbon for a minimal fee six months ago, but only made one start in his Royals tenure. Injury and lack of fitness affected his game time in the Premier League, but his agent has confirmed he has already received offers from Europe.

Carrico is yet to speak publicly about his future at the Madejski Stadium, but broke his silence speaking to Portuguese football site Relvado. Carrico said: ‘In the second division is more complicated, but let’s see what will happen in the close season.’

‘Might be some solutions. I have been in contact with my agent and certainly we will find the best solution. I have two more years of contract with Reading, but we are in contact with the club. I’m interested in new experiences. Crosses my mind not to go back to Portugal now.’

I always thought that Carrico would have stayed, but looking at these quotes, he may well be off in the summer. Even if he is fit, I can see Adkins sticking with Karacan and Guthrie in holding midfield, presuming that the both of them stay.
