The Royals have spent the summer so far trying to sort out a deal to sign Andy Griffin from Stoke, as well as persuading the player to move to the Mad Stad on a permanent basis. Whilst things looked promising last week, another team is rumoured to have joined the race to sign the right back.

Cardiff, despite losing the play off final, have just recieved financial investment and are looking to build a squad capable to going one better next season and securing promotion.

However, whilst they have the money behind them, the main reason Griffin is hesitating over moving to us is because he doesn’t want to uproot his family from the Stoke are and a move to Cardiff would probably be further away than a move to us.

Assistant manager Nigel Gibbs told the Reading Post, ‘We have thrown our hat into the ring with Andy Griffin and it`s no secret how much we want him. We will react to the situation regarding him for now rather than being pro-active.’

Lets hope a deal for Griffin can be tied up as soon as possible to allow us to focus on other possible transfer targets.
