Brian McDermott was delighted with his side after winning his first match in his second spell here as manager.

‘it felt like a homecoming, but I just wanted to concentrate on what we had to do, which was the most important thing today which was to get a result and we’ve done that so we can be happy’.

When asked if it all went to plan with three points and a clean sheet, he responded ‘I’ll take that all season’. He also mentioned that ‘not everything goes to plan in football’ and said that ‘we made a tactical substition, because I felt we needed to get a foothold in the game and I though Lucas did that for us’.

‘We had a few chances in the second half, but the goal that’s won it as out of the top drawer’

McDermott was full of praise for the Ireland International, Stephen Quinn. ‘We’ve got Stephen Quinn, he hasn’t played for three months and he’s played in a position which was or looked alien to him, he was outstanding’.

‘This league is all about momentum and trying to do the right things’.

Brian is very much someone who wants the team to bond and he said ‘your ego’s are not useful, you need to do what you have to do to get the right results and that’s everybody’.

‘We’ll train tomorrow and go again and take it game by game’.
