Bikey Wants To Stay

Andre Bikey has expressed his desire to sign a permanent deal with Reading come the end of the season.

The Cameroonian defender who is currently on loan from Lokomotiv Moscow has featured in Reading`s plans prominently since Ibrahima Sonko was ruled out for the rest of the season.

“We haven`t spoken about next season for the time being, but in two or three months I will know what I will be doing next year – if I stay or not. But I am optimistic, I think all will be good and I will stay.” The 22 year old commented.

But one hindrance in Bikey`s dream of a full time Reading contract could be the £1.5million price tag that Lokomotiv have valued him with.

Steve Coppell said: “I`m not going to make a statement on his future now, he is obviously doing all right and he will improve as the weeks go on.

“But what happens after this season will be decided when the season has finished. All I know is that Lokomotiv want a fee for him. That was stipulated when he first arrived.”

So for now, Bikey will have to wait until his future is decided, but he is confident it will be with Reading:

“But I am optimistic, I think all will be good and I will stay. We are doing well and we are winning matches.
“If it continues like that until the end of the season, I don`t think there is any reason why the manager would not keep me.”

Personally I would like to see Bikey sign permanently, sometimes he has seemed a little bit of a liability but I believe he has the potential to mature into an incredible defender.

This is already seen in some of his passing, although standing up to players and his booking record is something he may need to work on!

Bikey will not be involved in Saturday`s game with Boro due to his acquisition of 5yellows cards – the last coming against Man Utd in the FA Cup.

The money is on Michael Duberry to receive his first full debut in Bikey`s place.
