Obita, who can play in midfield or upfront, has been at the club since he was 8 years old and has put pen to paper on a contract to turn professional as soon as he has finished his GCSE’s in the summer.

He was being watching by a number of the top English clubs, including Man City who sent scout (and former Royals defender) Barry Hunter to watch him on a number of occasions.

He was free to sign for whoever he wanted but chose to show loyalty to the Royals who gave him the oppurtunity to showcase his talents.

Such a significent announcement must mean he is going to be more than just a 16 year old in the clubs academy programme, and appears to be a young prospect who may well be featuring for the first team before too long.

Remember the name – Jordan Obita!
