Much has been said about the rising star Josh Barrett, who has recently been awarded Academy player of the year .

I remember playing against him a few years back in a school match Highdown v Forest .He was by far the best player on the pitch ..
Little did I realise that he would be knocking on the door of Readings first team just 3 years down the line .

A school friend of mine came across him whilst in a trial game for JMA against Reading Academy .He said’ He will go far ,he was technically excellent a great foootball mind’

At the age of 17 he made his first team debut away at Huddersfield coming on for the last 10 mins (after impressing for the Academy and BOTH Reading and Republic of Ireland U21s).

For me his performance ON Saturday during Readings last home game at the Mad Stad v Preston NE impressed myself and many fans .He was lively not afraid to get on the ball and added the spark the team was missing .Josh is quick and powerful showing all the attributes of a great attacking midfielder .

Rumour has it Brian will be taking youngsters to Blackburn away , surely Josh should start ..Next season Reading must improve .The team has lacked focus many players under achieving .Fans want to see better performances .Josh deserves to feature in the team .All his hardwork from when I played against him at school will surely soon pay off .
