Aussie’s cling on

After a 4-0 hammering by Germany in their first game the Aussie’s were looking for a win to relight their world cup dreams, but Federici was forced to watch from the bench again.

An early goal from Brett Holman gave them the perfect start after just 11 minutes. That lead didn’t last long though after Harry Kewell handled on the line, and was sent off, before Ghana’s Asamoah Gyan converted the resulting spot kick.

Australia did hold out for a deserved draw and could even have won it late on. Their task to get through to the last 16 is a big one however as they currently sit bottom of the group and face Serbia in their final game. Even a win could not be good enough to send them through, with Germany and Ghana meeting in the final group games on Wednesday evening.

Only injury is likely to see Federici selected though, as Mark Schwarzer was back to his best against Ghana making a number of great saves.

Schwarzer was in fine form, Fed’s is highly unlikely to play in this tournament. Saying that his team mates will probably only play once more….
