Relegation was confirmed just last month, but Anton Zingarevich is not holding back. He has said next seasons objective is to win the league!

Wigan are set to lose manager Roberto Martinez, while QPR’s squad could undergo a massive transition, which leaves Nigel Adkins’ Reading, who are unlikely to see major changes for the next campaign. Coral have placed Harry Redknapp’s side as favourites to bounce straight back up, with the Royals second favourites at 10/3.

Quoted by the Reading Post, Zingarevich said: “The ambition and objective is to win the league. That`s the only thing we as a football club want to achieve. We discussed that in a board meeting a short time ago, and we have that message throughout the club. The key is that everything is there for us to achieve that.

‘We did last season, so the players, staff and everyone around the club knows what needs to be done to win the league. Of course everyone wants to be in the Premier League, but the Championship is a good league. The level of football is getting better and better because of the quality of the teams at the top is also getting better.’

People talk about how the Championship is a tough league, which I am not denying, but the quality of sides that have gone up do not seem any different to the quality we have. I think Anton has every right to think we can win the league next year, as we look the most stable out of the teams relegated and will keep the majority of the squad together.
