Royals defender Andre Bikey has admitted he would be tempted away from the club should the opportunity arise.

The Cameroon international will miss the start of the new campaign as he will be at the Olympics, but he has stated he would love a return to the Premier League and would also be interested in a move to France.

Bikey was plucked from obscurity when Steve Coppell gave him a trial whilst playing for Lokomotiv Moscow in Russia. Despite headbutting someone on the trial, Coppell brought him in on a season long loan and subsequently made the deal permanent in a £1m deal.

The defender has shown moments of pure brilliance since his time at Reading but has also shown moments of sheer madness, including a comical attack on a medic in the African Nations final.

Should Bikey leave the Royals it would be seen as a big blow, as he does look to be an excellent prospect for the future and would be an integral part of the Royals side that looks to get back into the Premier League.

When asked about his future, Bikey said, ‘To be honest, playing in the Championship has never been my ambition.

‘I love the top level, and Reading are in the Championship. I want to play in a top division.

‘Playing in France would be good, but England is my preferred choice.

‘I could learn a lot in the top league here, or in France.

‘I am open to a transfer, but I have a contract with Reading until 2010.`

I’ll be gutted if he goes tbh. Out of everyone, him and Marek are the two I most want to keep hold of.

He’s definitely got bags of potential and his moments of madness have made him a bit of a cult hero.
